For many years, Wish Farms has supported RCMA. Their efforts to lift the community around them is a continuing success, and our company is behind them all the way.
Founded in 1965, RCMA (Redlands Christian Migrant Association), serves rural and low-income communities in 21 counties throughout the state of Florida. They provide high quality childcare and education to 6,500 kids.
Up until recently, we learned that students at their Wimauma Community Academy were playing basketball and street hockey in the school’s parking lot. This was not an ideal situation. Wish Farms and some other generous donors decided to help out raise money for a beautiful new court!
“I personally feel much better about my scholars playing in a safe space rather than in the parking lot,” said Principal Mark Haggett at the virtual ribbon cutting ceremony, “This allows them to develop their skills in multiple sports on a regulation court.”
2020 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning also wanted to help, so they donated street hockey gear!
Future plans include adding a roof to the court. That way the kids can learn and play there, rain or shine. Stay tuned for that update!
The sports pavilion project is just another example of how RCMA’s mission is enriching the lives of children and we are thrilled to be part of it.
