Berries and your Mental Health

Happy May Berry Lovers! Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness month? We tend to focus a lot of our energy on our physical health and while this is important we can’t ignore the importance of our mind and the effect it has on our body as a whole.

This month,  we would like to showcase the powerful role fruits and vegetables play in boosting your mood and overall wellness. The concept is simple, when you eat good, you feel good.

These times are trying. We feel stressed, uncertain and without any control. It almost feels like you’re on a rollercoaster with no way to stop it from starting and no seat belt to buckle yourself in!

What you put in your body and what you provide your family to put in their body IS in your control..and that in itself is truly empowering.

Certain mental health conditions, like depression and anxiety are correlated in reduced fruit and vegetable intake.

Did you know that research suggests that people with anxiety and depression have lower amounts of antioxidants? This is something that berries are rich and abundant in.  To dig even further, the consumption of raw fruits and vegetables pack an even more powerful antioxidant punch than their processed or canned counterparts.

So stock up, eat up and enjoy all the positivity that life has to offer. Armor your body AND your mind with all the goodness that fruits, veggies and specifically BERRIES have to offer.
