Achieve Plant City helps break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty by offering services to local families. One of their programs, Storytime On the Go, takes preschool themes outside of the walls of their building and into the community. Each month they visit a different location with a book, craft, and guest reader. The target audience is stay at home moms and preschool children. This is a bilingual experience to expose Spanish speaking families to English literature and English speaking families to Spanish literature.
For the October Storytime On the Go event, Therese Wishnatzki shared her book Misty The Garden Pixie, a tale about fairies, strawberries, and overcoming bullies. After the reading, children also crafted their very own sets of pixie wings and got to take home their own misty doll as well as a copy of Misty the Garden Pixie. Wish Farms was proud to host this event in partnership with Achieve Plant City and with the help of Therese Wishnatzki, our author and guest reader.
