If you attended the Strawberry Festival in Plant City Florida, you couldn’t have missed the gigantic 10,000 square foot educational strawberry agriculture display presented by FSGA (Florida Strawberry Growers Association).
Complete with farming tools like tractors, over 800 Strawberry plants, and the “Ask a Farmer” Station; this exhibit was a crowd pleaser.
“FSGA is non-profit, voluntary organization that’s mission is to represent the industry in the areas of research, promotions and member/ community service. As part of it’s commitment to the community, FSGA has facilitated the presentation of over 425 college scholarships totaling in over $400,000”
This exhibit at the Strawberry Festival helps facilitate awareness of the farmers’ hard work to keep America Fed. According to the article within the In the Field Magazine, the 3 “go-to guys” for this exhibit are Billy Simmons, Mike Lott, Mark Harrell and have been for over a quarter of a century.
His son Shad Simmons who serves as President in the Association now continues Billy Simmons legacy.
