Florida Blueberry U-pick Season: That’s a Wrap! - Wish Farms

Florida Blueberry U-pick Season: That’s a Wrap!

Wish Farms hosted seven action-packed weekends of blueberry u-picks at our headquarters in Plant City, Florida. A few thousand visitors from central Florida and beyond flocked in to enjoy the warm sunshine and fun farm vibes. With three acres, the blueberry farm represents a small portion of our company production, but it has a huge impact in our community. Not only did visitors get to stock their fridge and freezer with the freshest Wish Farms Florida blueberries, but it is also the ultimate outdoor and affordable family activity! Kids walked away with a valuable learning experience: food doesn’t come from the grocery store; it comes from farms like this one!

It was truly a team effort. With “Farmer Joe” and his assistants Mike and Ronnie looking after the blueberry crop, u-pickers were able to haul away nearly 6,500 lbs. of Wish Farms Florida blueberries. Future Farmers of America (FFA) student volunteers from RW Blake Academy in Lakeland greeted visitors and kept our parking lot flowing smoothly. To show our appreciation, the Wish Farms Family Foundation donated $1,750 to their student organization for their hard work. Those funds will be used to further their agriculture education.

We look forward to seeing you all again next Florida blueberry season!

Did you know Florida blueberry season runs from mid-March to May and the industry represents more than 5,700 acres, producing about 20 million pounds of blueberries per season? Our Wish Farms blueberry farm features five different tasty varieties of blueberries: Chickadee, Kestrel, Avanti, Arcadia, and Sentinel.
