This past weekend the Wish Farms team traveled across the country, from Florida to California, to exhibit at the annual PMA Fresh Summit. PMA stands for Produce Marketing Association and is the leading trade association representing companies from every segment of the global produce and floral industry.
My first Fresh Summit experience was last year in Atlanta, GA. Being a Florida girl, born and raised, my first impression when I walked through the doors of the convention center was overwhelming. Literally, a full city built within the convention center walls in just a few short days – a city, that is, that would be any foodie’s dreamland!
As I walked through the doors people were bustling to see the latest and greatest in fresh food offerings. Each display was elaborately showcased and all of my senses were electrified as I immediately started to take in all of the deliciousness that was about to make up my next two days in Anaheim, California.
The sweet aroma of fruits and vegetables were wafted in my direction from bountiful displays of only the best product. To my left sat a Border Grill food truck with celebrity chefs, Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger, serving up delicious recipes with California Avocados. To my right, Famous Idaho Potatoes built a miniature-racing track for remote-controlled spud racing. Down the next aisle, a booth sampling all of the Wonderful products – POM Wonderful, Wonderful Pistachios and the list goes on…
Needless to say – I didn’t know where to start! After tasting my way through over 200,000 square feet of convention center goodness, I realized this is something everyone should have the pleasure of enjoying. I’ve compared the Fresh Summit to my friends and family as walking into the Disney Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. I’d say this is a pretty accurate description given that this year the host city was in Anaheim, CA just a hop, skip and a jump from Disneyland.
The event this year brought together more than 21,000+ produce industry professionals from 61 countries and nearly 4,000 buyers. It’s a first-class event that brings together all aspects of the global food market under one roof to connect and share consumer insights, reveal new products and best practices, and most importantly STAY INSPIRED.
