Role Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the calculation, analysis, and documentation of grower payments while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established agreements and company policies. This role collaborates closely with Grower Relations, Sales, and other internal stakeholders to analyze data, maintain grower agreements, support financial reporting, and ensure accurate grower settlement processing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize multiple data sources to compile, analyze, and report on information used in weekly reporting and grower payment calculations.
  • Partner with Grower Relations to identify growers, expected crop receiving periods, anticipated volumes, and pricing expectations.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Grower Relations to monitor market conditions and adjust forecasts and budgets based on changing market dynamics.
  • Analyze market data and pricing trends to support recommendations regarding grower terms and settlement calculations.
  • Build relationships and collaborate effectively across departments to obtain information and reporting necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Analyze internal sales data to develop pricing expectations and identify potential issues, discrepancies, and anomalies.
  • Integrate and validate data from multiple sources using common identifiers to support reporting and payment calculations.
  • Calculate grower settlements based on grower-specific agreements, commodity requirements, and established payment terms.
  • Maintain grower marketing agreements and an accurate schedule of individual grower terms and conditions.
  • Manage priorities effectively and maintain the organization necessary to meet reporting and settlement deadlines.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 2+ years of accounting, finance, data analysis, or related experience required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, and PivotTables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and analyze large data sets.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to proactively gather information, identify gaps, and follow up on outstanding items to ensure timely resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
