Role Overview 

The Forklift Driver plays a key role in the efficient movement of products and materials throughout warehouse and cooling facilities. This position is responsible for safely loading, unloading, transporting, and storing strawberries, packaging materials, and agricultural supplies while supporting harvest, packing, inventory, and shipping operations. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, accuracy, and productivity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other authorized material handling equipment to transport strawberries, packaging materials, and farm supplies throughout warehouse and cooling facilities. 
  • Load, unload, and move products, materials, and supplies from trucks, trailers, and delivery vehicles. 
  • Transport harvested strawberries between receiving, cooling, packing, storage, and shipping areas. 
  • Stack, store, and organize pallets in designated warehouse locations while maximizing space utilization and maintaining accessibility. 
  • Handle perishable products in accordance with quality standards to minimize damage and preserve product integrity. 
  • Assist with inventory control activities, including product rotation, inventory counts, and storage organization. 
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, quality, and proper documentation. 
  • Conduct daily pre-operation inspections of forklifts and equipment and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns. 
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse, cooling, and loading areas. 
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, quality assurance, and workplace safety policies and procedures. 
  • Complete required inventory records, inspection logs, shipping documentation, and other operational reports accurately and timely. 
  • Support warehouse, cooling, packing, and shipping operations as needed to meet production and customer requirements. 
  • Assist with additional warehouse projects and operational tasks as assigned. 

Required Qualifications & Skills 

  • Previous forklift operating experience preferred. 
  • Experience in agricultural, warehouse, food processing, cooling, or distribution environments preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse operations, material handling practices, and inventory procedures. 
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to established procedures. 
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, quality, and safety. 
  • Reliable attendance, dependability, and a strong work ethic. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Commitment to maintaining food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to sit and safely operate a forklift and other authorized material handling equipment for extended periods. 
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to work in refrigerated coolers, warehouse facilities, loading areas, and varying indoor and outdoor conditions. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, and climb as required to perform job duties. 
  • Good vision, depth perception, and spatial awareness necessary for the safe operation of forklifts and warehouse equipment. 
  • Ability to safely enter and exit forklifts repeatedly throughout the workday. 
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support operational demands.
