This got us thinking….What’s on your plate?
Matter of fact….what’s on everyone else’s plate around the world!?
In the Cuban culture, Christmas is a big deal; however, Christmas Eve or Noche Buena is an even bigger deal!
This night is full of dancing, roasting a whole pig outside on a rotisserie, and of course eating!
Appetizers will include a multitude of snacks…but you will always find Guava paste and cheddar cheese on a cracker. The perfect mix of sweet, savory and salty!
The main course includes, white rice with black beans on top, yuca con mojo (or yuca root with garlic sauce), mojo roast pork, and a watercress salad (eaten for good luck) mixed in with oil and vinegar.
The greek culture eats a little differently on Christmas.
Appetizers might include some pita chips and hummus or kalamata olive tapenade with pita bread.
The main course will most definitely have lamb topped with Tzatziki sauce, roasted potatoes, veggies greek salad, and the most feta cheese you could imagine!
An Italian Christmas is one for the books! Just when you thought other cultures could eat….
All kinds of pastas, raviolis and traditional Italian dishes.
This plate consisted of lasagna, salad and grapes (for a new prosperous and lucky year!)
Share your Christmas plate with us so we can see how your family celebrates!
