Location: Plant City, FL

We have a career opportunity available for a talented and motivated individual to join our team in Plant
City, FL as a Safety Manager. Qualified individuals will need to be bilingual (English/Spanish),
comfortable speaking in front of groups, be highly organized and motivated to build a culture a
safety.

The Safety Manager will be responsible for establishing policies and procedures that will create and
maintain a safe workplace. The candidate will be expected to create and execute various safety
trainings across several of our locations. The ability to clearly communicate guidelines to the workforce
in a manner that they will understand is essential. The goal is to ensure that our warehousing and
farming locations meet and exceed all regulatory compliance laws and requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Develop and manage a culture of environmental health and safety according to OSHA guidelines
across the organization at our headquarters, warehousing, and farming locations
• Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law and best
practice guidelines
• Lead the project in the development, documentation, and training of the Emergency Action Plan
(EAP) for all employees
• Conduct and document all required fire drills, assessing the effectiveness of the EAP
• Maintain company Health and Safety Binder and documentation associated with safety training
and ongoing compliance
• Lead safety committee with current safety issues, prepare agendas for all meetings and record
minutes so that all meetings are fully documented
• Develop plan for weekly tailgate/shift safety training talks and method to document such
trainings
• Develop and identify Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to ensure a safe work environment for all
employees, contractors, and visitors
• Assist with maintaining the SDS sheet binders onsite for all chemical usage (alongside food
safety department)
Routinely administer fire extinguisher checks on all units monthly as required by OSHA
• Management of the monthly AED systems maintenance and eye wash stations as required by
law, documenting such on required forms
• Prepare and provide safety folders with clear action steps for accidents and incidents to all
managers, provide training and guidance for all managers on what to do in case of an accident
• Lead managers to complete accident or near miss investigations to determine root cause and
manage the corrective actions process
• Manage annual forklift training for all employees that operate forklifts, consistently enforce
rules surrounding seat belts, speed, lights, horn sounding, signals, etc
• Manage daily forklift pre-inspection process and logs
• Assist Food Safety Director with the management of PPE processes for all facilities, gloves,
hairnets, safety goggles, freeze protection, etc
• Conduct new hire training for facility safety for all employees that work in the warehouse
• Manage the lock out tag out procedures for all equipment requiring this type of procedure
• Prepare processes and manage documentation surrounding maintenance checks and other
safety related processes in our online library of internal processes
• Create guidelines for pedestrians when walking through the warehouse to ensure the safest
route
• Manage various safety trainings throughout the year including CPR/First Aid/AED, Fire
Extinguisher, Emergency Action Plan, Workplace Violence, Active Shooter Training, etc
• Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
• Fully participate in all audits involving health & safety
• Keep up-to-date on all company safety policies, OSHA, ANSI, and other regulatory standards
• Assistance with other safety related tasks as requested by management

REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ years of proven experience in an agricultural, manufacturing, warehousing, public service
(firefighter, military, retiree) or similar setting overseeing environmental health and safety
• Bilingual English/Spanish with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
• Driven and self-motivated to create and implement fresh ideas to build a culture of safety
• High degree of self-structure with the ability to perform successfully under minimal supervision
• Highly organized with large amounts of documentation required
• Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP), Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM), OSHA 10 &
OSHA 30 or ability/willingness to obtain certification is highly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in a safety related field is preferred
