Position: Full time

Location: Salinas or Santa Maria, CA

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for ensuring that Wish Farms’ California operation and employee practices are in compliance with state regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure company compliance with CA state employment laws, rules, regulations and best practices
  • Oversee records management: employee registrations & onboarding, new hire paperwork, maintain employee personnel files
  • Administer 401k enrollments and employee benefit plan enrollments, wellness credits tracking, assist HR Director with ACA compliance and reporting
  • Maintain resume logs in compliance with EEO/AA requirements
  • Manage California employment law postings, general employment and agriculture specific
  • Manage and document all required trainings: Harassment, Safety, Heat Illness, Forklift, etc
  • Manage the sick and PTO policies for all eligible employees
  • Oversee the set up and maintenance of employee information in timekeeping and payroll systems
  • Manage the weekly payroll entry, download scanners, input hourly timecards, review cost centers for correct coding, review wages for accuracy with overtime, double time, rest and recovery time, review for compliance with CA state employment law
  • Process payroll related paperwork (EDD, FTB, IRS, CA SDU, etc)
  • Perform internal I-9 audits, payroll & timekeeping audits, work comp audits, etc. Assist with audits or investigations involving DOL, DLSE, CALOSHA, Worker’s comp, 401k, and other internal, state or federal audits.
  • Assist with social compliance and accountability audits and certifications
  • Manage offboarding process of employees at end of season and upon separation, providing notices and guidance to employees, proper preparation of final paychecks
  • Effectively address employee concerns and questions concerning company policies and procedures
  • Perform thorough employee complaint investigations, document the investigation, provide professional suggestions for remediation, work with employees in the corrective actions process according to company policy and as instructed by management
  • Assist Safety Manager with paperwork surrounding Workers Compensation onsite injuries, record incident reports, report OSHA 300 logs, assist with managing claims from injury through recovery
  • Other tasks as associated with position and as requested by management

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of California Human Resources and Payroll management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR and payroll concepts specific to California Agriculture industry required
  • Extremely organized individual with effective communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong self-structure with demonstrated ability to produce under minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel frequently between Salinas and Santa Maria farming and office locations
  • PHR-CA, SHRM California Employment Law Micro Credential preferred
  • Famous software knowledge preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
